I just wanted to take a minute to let you in on a little bit about me. I mentioned before that I was a wife and mother of 4, but did I mention that I have ALWAYS got something going on? I was just sitting here thinking to myself, “Dang! There is never a time when I don’t have some sort of event that I’m planning for”. I just have to remind myself that taking it one thing at a time, is the best way to execute it. I take down notes as things come to me. I keep a calendar of all things important, and enlist help where help is needed. I DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM ASKING FOR HELP! I am currently in the process of wrapping up plans for a Women’s Retreat with some great girlfriends for March. I am dead center in the planning of a Spring Break getaway, and a Summer vacation for my crew. I’m also setting a few things in motion for April & September, not to mention that I work full time. Wait, did I mention that I have a husband and 4 kids???? (Didn’t want you to forget about that). I say all of this to make this point. My mind is always in motion, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I enjoy planning and organizing, and putting things in place. I also enjoy watching others enjoy themselves, and knowing that with God’s help with His gift to me, I played a role in that. It’s like when my husband Damon cooks dinner, he will bring me something to sample, and awaits my reaction. He is an awesome cook , so of course it’s good, and he knows it….
These tasks sometimes feel like a burden, because it’s expected that I handle these things, but at the end of the day, I am the First Born, the Big Sister, the Mama, the Wife, the Social Director, etc., and I wear all of these hats with pride. Have you ever read about certain characteristics of the first born? Check these out….
Characteristics of Firstborn Children:
- Controlling (sometimes seen as bossy) HA!
- Want to excel at everything.
- Bask in parent’s attention.
I believe that I check all of those boxes and then some. And yes. I’ll own bossy, too!
Are there things that you find yourself ALWAYS doing? Do you secretly love doing them? It’s ok. I understand. Let’s just be real with ourselves, shall we?
Deep Thoughts, with Kellie…. If you truly desire a “thing”, you have to take the steps to acquire the “thing”. God has always got the final say, but when you pray on the said “thing”, you can’t just sit idly by and wait on the “thing” to happen. You have got to put it in motion. HE’s got your steps ordered, and will never let you down. Things happen for a reason, and there is no such thing as a happenstance, ya know? Like my blog title states, DON’T JUST TALK ABOUT IT, BE ABOUT IT!
