Hello Friends! I pray you are all well on this wonderful Friday morning! It looks like it is set to be a beautiful day of sun in Texas, with a high in my hood of 71 degrees.
This weekend, I have just a few things on my agenda that I thought I would share with you.
What I’m Listening To…..
Have you guys ever watched the show, Chrisley Knows Best? If not, it is a crazy funny show following the lives of the Chrisley family. It has been on for quite some time, which I belive is on the USA Network, and that dad, Todd, is a hot mess! Not to mention his mother, Nanny Faye! Anyway, I say all of that to go into the fact that I also listen to their podcast, Chrisley Confessions.
There has been a lot of chatter about what is going on in their lives. Mostly tabloid junk, and they have taken on this platform to help clear the air, lend advise to listeners that call in, and just make themselves relatable as they speak on their beliefs, their family, and their faith. I really enjoy listening to them throughout my work day.
What I’m Watching…..
I have just come across a new series that has just begun on BET, called American Soul. “American Soul tells the story of Don Cornelius, “his Soul Train dancers, crew and musicians in a cutthroat Hollywood in the 1970s and how they work, play, rise and fall against the backdrop of the show most responsible for the way African-American culture was perceived by the world.”
Again, this is one of those stories that gives my “nosey” all of the satisfaction that it craves. I remember watching Soul Train as a kid, but would not for the life of me have known how things were actually going down with its creator and the folks behind the scenes. Don Cornelius was something else, to say the least! This show has definitely got my attention. You can also check it out on Tuesdays at 8 pm Central on BET.
What I’m Reading….
I just picked up “Girl, Wash Your Face: Stop Believing the Lies About Who You Are So You Can Become Who You Were Meant to Be”, by Rachel Hollis. I have heard a lot of great things about this author, and look forward to getting in some reading time this weekend. I’ll be sure to post my thoughts once I have completed it, so stay tuned….
“In this book, each chapter tackles a different lie Rachel has believed, the authentic examples from her own life illustrating those lies, and then the methods she used (or wish she had used) to defeat those lies. These are big, vulnerable topics like ‘I Should Be Farther Along By Now’ and ‘I Will Never Get Past This’.
Rachel doesn’t want this book to change your life. She wants you to read this book, and then feel strengthened so you change your life.”
I pray you all have a great and hopefully relaxing weekend. I know I plan to.
