Proverbs 22:6 6 Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.
This parenting thing is kind of a trip! God entrusted us with a whole human! Whether they were conceived and carried in our wombs, or we were blessed to be 2nd Mamas to them. It’s all in His devine plan that WE/YOU are the one hand picked to care for these little people. SO AMAZING!
As I write, I am sitting in my car, ( yeah, it’s like 30 degrees right now) at Kori’s soccer practice, just watching her go! That girl just loves life. She gets to spend this time running off some energy, and being the “Social Butterfly” that she so thrives at. She makes my heart smile, and I so look forward to seeing what she is to become. Whatever it is, it will be great!
Before I left home to get her to practice, my Big Boy was chatting me up about his school day. I am in total awe when I look up at him, (yes, I said look up) and remember back on those little juicy mouth baby days, when he was so precious and tiny. He would sing little songs while he played with his toys. I still hurt, thinking about when he told me, at like 9 years old, that he was too big for those cute little fitted pajamas that I used to buy him. You know. The ones that Wal-Mart sells for $4 on Black Friday? You know the ones….The nerve!
I still can’t believe that we’ve raised someone into adulthood. That is the one that really boggles me. “God? How did we do? I think we’ve instilled some good Christian values in her. Wait… I KNOW we did. Please wrap your arms around her and keep her safe from harm. In your Son Jesus’ name I pray, Amen!” Kamren continues to get this, “being grown” thing on lock everyday. She is handling her business like her Mama taught her, and I know she will be fine. Wow! 21 years old. Just getting started in life.
Then there is our little Drew. Our 5-year old, ummmm…..Handful? “God. You sure must have a lot of faith in my abilities & patience with this one. Please give me screnff!” She is a sweetheart, but we have a lot to work on. I know that He wouldn’t give me anything that I couldn’t handle, and my faith is strong. One thing that I will give her though. She is tough! She will stand her ground, and we will never have to worry about someone talking her into something that she doesn’t want to do. OH LAWD…Please pray for me, Friends. That could be both a blessing and a curse.
Either way you slice it, I am these folks Mama, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. They are blessed testaments to the love that Damon and I share, and the love that the Father has for us. I am so glad that my Lord & Savior deemed me fit to birth and care for these 4 young people, and my job is to make sure to lead them towards HIM.
Ephesians 6:4 4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
