That time I totally GEEKED out at LeakyCon….

What the heck is LeakyCon, you ask? Well, it is a total nerd out for all things Harry Potter. I had seen Facebook posts, and billboards advertising this soon to be SOLD OUT weekend, but thought, “Nah! Its not that serious.” That was until the day that my sister in law Natasha, who is all about the HP franchise, called me and told me she had an extra ticket if I wanted it! “Uhhh….Yes, please!”

Natasha had a coworker friend that would be coming with, and they were riding together, so that left me to drive myself. I got there a little early and started to have second thoughts, thinking, “Oh my gosh! I am going to be the oldest fool up in here!” As you will see from my pictures, I definitely was not!

The one and only Professor Dumbledore
Professors Trelawny, & Sprout
Bellatrix LeStrange & A Death Eater
Professor Sprout
(She was the cutest little thing!)
Professor Snape AKA The Half Blood Prince
(He was in full on character)
Mad-Eye Moody

It was both fun and interesting to see all of these folks really get into it. There were panels that spoke on different topics about the books & movies, and there were even some guest appearances.

In the times that we are living in, it is good to have a bit of a fantasy escape. Let your hair down, have a little fun, be a little lame. You know…..Live a Little.

The Fat Lady
(This lady was hilarious!)
He Who Must Not Be Named….
Loves me some Sirius Black!
bllleecckk! Dolores Umbridge
(with Natasha in full Hufflepuff Gear)
A couple of Beauxbatons Girls
A little different twist on Dolores Umbridge…
The Gryffindor Common Room

I am really glad that I decided to go. There was a lot to see and do, and of course, the character interaction was a blast. There was a long line for frozen Butter Beer out in the main corridor, and that was for sure where all of the action was. Most of the pictures that I got were from me jumping out of line and saying, “Can I get a picture with you, insert character’s name here?” You all know that I never meet a stranger, and have absolutely no shame. It was also funny to see other people jumping out from behind me to get their photo ops in, too. I think I kind of helped to loosen them up a bit.

If you aren’t a fan of the Harry Potter franchise, its totally fine, but it is a neat story to follow. I know it will be and has been around for a long time. I am pretty sure that when I have grandchildren, it will still be quite the phenomenon. Yeah, I feel a bit nerdy, but I have enjoyed the journey. Go on and pick up The Sorcerer’s Stone in paperback, or even the DVD. You will not be disappointed.

Mischief managed…..

  1. I went to Leakycon last year too. It was amazing fun. And got to check out the behind-the-scenes stuff by volunteering. Definitely an added perk. Definitely looking forward to this year.
What was your fav place / moment there?
