These past few weeks have been pretty hectic around the White House. It’s also been really heavy on my heart about the need to spend time with the ones that you love, and to let them know that you love them. When they say life is short, that is an understatement.
Far too often, we let the smallest, insignificant things get in the way of actually making time for the things that are important. Yes, we all lead busy lives, but please do not wait until tragedy strikes before getting together. So often, that is the only time that we see each other. Let’s challenge ourselves to reach out to that someone we have missed, and plan to go out for a bite or have a coffee. Just take that time to catch up. You don’t want to have regrets when you look up one day and they are gone. You definitely don’t want to live a life full of, “I should haves….”
I mentioned in a previous post that I am blessed to still have my Grandparents be with us. I decided that my cousins should want to celebrate that fact as well, so I set out to rally the troops. The majority of us got together this past weekend to do just that. I am prayerful that this sparked the beginning of something that can be carried out on an individual basis. My Grandma was over the moon at all of the attention she received. I am pretty sure she slept really good that night.
1 King 8:57 May the Lord our God be with us as he was with our ancestors; may he never leave us nor forsake us.
Friends, we have lost some people this past year, very unexpectedly, and are heartbroken behind the fact. Tomorrow is not promised. Pick up the phone, get in your car, hop on a plane, run, walk, whatever you have to do. Just get there! Get to your loved ones, hug and kiss them, and let them know how you feel. If there are any rifts that need to be mended…..DO IT! any words that need to be spoken, SPEAK THEM!
John 15:12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.
Darrick Lee, we love & miss you brother. May you rest in heaven. Hug Big Mama, Kiss Aunt Virgie, & Squeeze Daddy for us. Until we see each other again…..
