What’s Making Me Happy This Week….A Little Twist….

Good Morning, Folks! I pray that everyone has been blessed!

This week’s, What’s Making Me Happy This Week, is getting a little different of a look this go around. My sweet husband called a family meeting on Wednesday night, due to the fact that he had noticed that as a family, we have gotten a bit scattered. We have a routine of a day, that consists of getting chores and homework done once we get home, preparing dinner, and in the meantime, Donovan has to be picked up from Spring football practice. Once all of that is complete, we eat, and then everyone is off to their separate quarters. Now, on occasion, that is all good, because it gives us each the time to decompress from the day, and have that alone time that we need. On the flip side, we lose that bit of connection, in the little bit of the day that we get to spend together.

So, back to Damon’s call to action…. He decided that each kid will pick a day each week to do something as a family. It didn’t have to be a grand gesture, just something that we do together. Guess who had the first suggestion? 5 Year old Drew! “Daddy, I want to play kitchen in the backyard on Friday!” Now, I don’t know how all 5 of us will pull that off, but Daddy said “Ok!” He’ll probably come home with a brand new kitchen set and some play food next week. That’s just how he rolls! Gah! I love that Dude!

Donovan’s contribution was to have us cook a meal together. For him to come up with a day would be tricky, because like I said, he has Spring Ball practice most everyday, and Damon told him we can’t be waiting to eat dinner at 8:00. He also has to “plan” for the meal that we make, and anyone who knows Mr. White, Jr., that is not his strong suit. Maybe he will prove me wrong and plan LIKE A BOSS!

Little Miss Sassafrass….This child and her games! She suggested that we play charades on Wednesday. I told her that she had to prepare a list of a few more games that we can play to fill in more time. I have a feeling that charades will be over pretty quick dealing with our crew.

So, to sum up why this is what has made me happy this week, my husband, our Fearless Leader, saw a kink in our family chain, and he decided to take action. He has such a great heart and love for the Lord. He makes us, his people, top priority…ALWAYS! There is not a day that goes by that he doesn’t make me feel like an absolute Queen, and build up his Prince & Princesses. I love this man with my whole heart, and Damon White is What’s Making ME Happy This Week!

Psalm 127:3-5 “Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.”
