Top 5…

It’s Thursday, Ya’ll! One more day till the weekend. I decided that since my last post was quite sad, (I struggled to write through my tears) I was going to be light this go around. So, settle in, and let’s talk about my Top 5 for the week!

Top 5 Graphics Processing Units of the Year 2013

#1. A getaway with my Boo!- My little girls have a weekend away scheduled with their older sister, so I will be sure to take advantage of that. Damon & I have what we call “Why Not Day” where we just go wherever, and try all kinds of different foods. Why not? We’ll plan it to be semi local, but we love a chance to be GROWN ON OUR OWN!

#2. Bible Study– My good friend Yolanda and I are currently into this study, “It’s All Under Control” by Jennifer Dukes Lee. Yo and I were chatting the other day, and I asked her was she actually writing in her workbook. She said that she was, and when I expressed that I was struggling to do so, because I wasn’t all to keen on “chronicling my downfalls”, this woman told me to use invisible ink, but get to writing. She is a trip!

It is a six week study, and our intent is to meet every 2 weeks during, to discuss. This meme inspired our next outing…

#3. The “Boy” has a LICENSE! Ya’ll! He is official. Of course, that doesn’t mean that I won’t still be a worried wreck, but he can now get himself to all of his own stuff and we no longer have to be Donovan’s Chauffeur/Adult Passenger.

#4. BRIDGERTON– That is all I am going to say…Oh, and WATCH IT! It will not disappoint.

The Bridgerton Series | Julia Quinn | Author of Historical Romance Novels

#5. My Husband-He is a favorite on any given day, but I just want to shout him out. He works so hard for us and takes really good care of me. When we first met, he told me that he always wanted 3 daughters. Why? I have no idea. I never even dreamed that would be my reality, but God saw to it that Damon got his wish. Not sure he really knew what he was asking, but he got it. He is a great Girl Daddy, and he likes the “Boy” a little, too. LOL! God has truly Blessed us with this man. I love you, Boo.

Well, Folks! This is where I am going to wrap it up for today. Until next time.

Be Blessed,

Kellie

Good Morning, Friends!

Its been quite awhile, and there has been one particular post that has been on my heart for quite some time. As I am sure everyone is full aware of what a tough year 2020 was, but my biggest loss came when Jesus called my sweet Grandma home.

BEAUTIFUL
Cousins
4 Generations
I am sure she was telling a funny joke in this picture. She really thought she was a comedienne.
I know she was “tickling” herself right here! She had the cutest shoulder jIggle when she laughed. We used to mess with her about it, and she would say, “Do I do that?” and would get right back to it.
Always so happy and smiling! Was such a beautiful soul.
The Grands
Grandma’s Favorite place to be. Church and with her Robin.

Doris Elizabeth Fontenot was the absolute best Grandmother this girl could’ve ever asked for. She lived to be 89 glorious years old, and has only seen a hospital to birth her 5 babies. I had the pleasure of having a Grandma for 42 years, and my oldest daughter had a Great-Grandmother for 23! How awesome is that???

My mother is the only daughter that she had, so naturally, my brothers and I were a bit closer to her. I remember a year that the roads were icy on Christmas Eve, and my Mama didn’t really want to risk the trip to Waco that evening after she got off work. I am guessing she told Grandma this, and before dark, my Grandma & my uncle Tony showed up at our house with gifts and the whole Christmas dinner….already cooked! AH-Mazing!

Grandma had a way of making everyone feel so special…like you were the only one. That was just one of the amazing qualities she had, but she was definitely spectacular in so many ways! Man, I miss her….

I made this for her when I was in the 5th grade. She had a curio cabinet full of her “treasures”.
Grandma bought this bear for Kamren when she was 2 years old. She is now 23 and cherishes “Kammie”, as they named her. The two of them had quite the relationship.
Grandma & I headed to church. That rabbit coat is SHARP!
Look at Tony back there hatin’. LOL!

Speaking of Tony, he and my husband had a little battle going for the longest. Damon thought that when he came along, he could “replace” Tony in my Grandma’s eyes. I laugh as I type this, because we all know that the baby boy can NEVER be replaced in Mama’s eyes, right? See, I always fancied myself as the favorite grandchild, and while Tony is not that much older than me, we grew up more like brother and sister, than uncle & niece. He was still living at home when I was spending those summer days and whatnot with my Grandma. I say all of that to say, that Damon would always sweet talk her into making him cookies when we went to visit. She normally had all of the ingredients on hand, but whatever she didn’t have, Damon was always willing to go to the store and pick up whatever she needed. Well, Tony use to be the cookie recipient until Damon was in the picture, and of course, in true Damon fashion, he had to rub it in! Every time she made them for him, he would take a picture while eating one, and send it to Tony! (Even though Grandma was in the background bagging up cookies to save & freeze for Tony. Ha!) We went back & forth on that for years. The greatest thing about it all, was that it didn’t matter who her “favorite” was, because she made us all feel like her favorite. She was so amazing in that. I don’t know how she managed to pull that off.

My Mama brought the “famous” cookbook to Damon, and we made her cookies. we tear up every time we go to that page with all of the stains from her fingers, and the tape that holds it together.

I miss you Grandma. Damon, Kamren, Donovan, Kori & Drew miss you. Until we are together again…..

Good Tuesday Morning…

I pray everyone’s week is off to a good start and you are all prepped and poised to get out and vote! Early voting starts today, and it is very important to let your voices be heard!

(That is all I’m going to say about that!)

This past weekend, I had the opportunity to do a few things to help my Be About It Organizing brand along. I’ve shared a few examples of the first big thing I did below….

Y’all! I did a photo shoot! That is so “me out of my element”. I mean, I’ve been told I’m a natural and all, but this is not something I would do on my own. I figured that if I wanted to have some marketing material, selfies would only take me so far, ya know? 😆

If you need any help getting organized after quarantine overload, please feel free to reach out. I know clutter can get overwhelming, and some of us just don’t know where to start, but that’s where I come in. Your first phone consultation is FREE, and we will work on your plan from there. I will help you every step of the way.

Thanks for taking the time to check in with me on my little corner office on the internet. I’ll be back next week. In the mean time….”Don’t just talk about it. BE about it!”

Blessings,

Kellie

Weekend Fun…..

Good Morning, Friends!

I have to say that I had a great weekend! It was jam packed with some of my favorite things… quality family time, a Mama visit, ( I talked her into doing my hair while she was here) some shopping, a girlfriend hang, and now an opportunity to be sharing with you.

It started on a high note with me noticing these bad boys! Did I ever tell y’all that I had a “black thumb”???

With the weather being absolutely gorgeous, it only made everything a million times better. I don’t know about you, but when I get some good ole Vitamin D, it just feels so good!

Me & these cuties had a picnic PB&J lunch in the backyard. We discussed our favorite tv shows, past & present.

Do you remember me telling you about the BFF Shopping Challenge? Well Let me tell you, that was so much fun! We talked trash all week up until the day. I had a blast making videos and posting on IG. The next time we do a shopping challenge, I really encourage you to join. Whether it’s getting a friend to go up against, or just seeing what great items you can find on the set limit. It’ll be fun regardless.

We will be posting today on IG, so follow us on over @kelliedidwhat and @frugalyetfab to vote for a winner.

I’m just gonna leave you with some flat lays, so you can decide which $35 was spent the best….

I really hope you had a good weekend and have a blessed week ahead!

Blessings,

Kellie

Don’t just talk about it, BE about it!

This Social Media Thang…

Hey! Hey again! Twice in the same week. Get it, Girl!

So I said I’d be back with some goodies, so here I am. A good old friend of mine and I reconnected a little while back, and when I say old friend, I’m talking Sunday School class & VBS! That’s how WAY BACK we’re talking!

Anitra is an Insta Influencer with a following @frugalyetfab, and is sharing her FABULOUS finds with the world. You all know me, and know that I am always on the hunt for an amazing deal, so of course, I was immediately drawn to her posts.

We got to talking and decided that we were going to collaborate and introduce our first challenge. We shall call it……”The Head To Toe” challenge. We will each have $35, 1 day, & only the 3 stores we’ve picked ahead of time to shop at. We will be dressing ourselves from Head to Toe, (see what I did there?) and can add nothing that we already own, outside of underwear & socks!

Looking so sweet & innocent…

Well, I hate to do this to you Anitra, (not really) but you are about to go down! This is totally in my wheel house…what I was born for… so I guess you can say that the trash talking starts now!

How I’m going to celebrate after my victory!

OK, so back to the real reason for this post. You All! Why don’t you grab your BFF, pick 3 stores, and put your strategy together. The plan is to get our “Shop On” on the morning of October 3rd, separately, and come together that evening to model our finds, and will post to IG with a hashtag, so stay tuned.

We will continue our build up battle on Instagram, so you will be able to join in on our fun! Don’t worry, we we really are fiends. No Friendships will be harmed during this challenge. Ha!

Follow us: @kelliedidwhat & @frugalyetfab

I’ll see you all over on Insta!

Be Blessed,

Kellie

Don’t just talk about it, BE about it!

I’m Back….I think!

Hey! Hey!

It seems like forever since my last blog post. Hmmmmm, let’s see… at least a good six months. Man! Has the world completely turned upside down?

I will share this. Back in late April, I had it. The dreaded Covid 19. For those of you that knew and prayed with me and for me, they were most definitely felt. It was a pretty scary time with not knowing how sick I would get, or the toll it would take on both me and my household, but the good Lord saw me through. Saw us all through. Thankfully, no one else got sick, at least not that we know of, and the best friends and family saw to it that we didn’t skip a beat! My husband took great care of me, and my kids saw to it that I didn’t have to worry about anything. Thank you Jesus for your blessings up in my house!

Fast forward to present day, and things are still crazy! We are now virtually learning, so Mama is now working from home, monitoring an 11th & 7th grader’s online learning, facilitating a 2nd grader’s two live zoom classes a day, along with helping with the class work that follows, not to mention holding down the fort everyday!

Here are just a few glimpses into what we’ve got going on in the day…

Acting like she is learning something….
Virtual Learner Yoga for P.E.
She GETS it! I don’t have to worry about this girl.
Now, the one in the back fake reading…???
Drives me insane, but gotta love him.
After 5 full weeks, we got a “Day Off” with no school, so I decided I needed a ZEN office space for the day. It was very relaxing and helped me to get a bunch of work pumped out.
(Excuse the iron in the background. Pressing out Fall linens over the weekend)
We had to put him out of our space, so he decided he needed to eat a giant bowl of cereal.

Well, Friends. It felt good to get back into sharing with you all. The plan is to be back on Thursday with some god stuff, so have a Blessed Day!

Don’t just talk about it. BE About it!

On Quarantine…

Hey there! Praying you all are home safe and healthy. The times right now are quite the mess, but what I can say is that with the Lord on our side, we cannot lose.

Philippians 4:8 8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

Damon and I have been talking about doing an overhaul on our fireplace for a good 6 months or so. We do a lot of discussing, especially after watching HGTV marathons, but rarely take the plunge on a full collaborative project, but with this one, he already had a Home Depot trip planned for something else, and he came back with all of the supplies needed. I do have to add, this was well over 6 months ago…

With Operation: Shelter in Place in full swing, we decided there was no better time like the present, and we got to work! We had already watched multiple YouTube videos and decided which technique we liked best. It was a beautiful day outside, so we opened all doors and windows and got at it.

Here is our fireplace before….

Look at us, all teamed up! We work good together. It was really not a hard task, and it didn’t even take us 2 full hours. The clean up was the biggest job.

Looky there! Our finished masterpiece.

I am so proud of the way it turned out. It really lightens up the room.

I had a few other projects that were tackled over the weekend, but I will share those over the next week or so, so be sure to come back! In the mean time:

Stay Safe. Stay Healthy, & Stay HOME!

Blessings,

Kellie

What a Doozy….

Excuse the language, but this tickled me.

There has been a lot going on this past week. The time SPRUNG forward and jacked everybody’s sleep up. The kids were on Spring Break, so groceries had to be stocked. The world went into a frenzy, as the Covid-19, aka Corona Virus was found close to home, so folks bought up all of the toilet paper. Rounded all off with a Friday the 13th! I am not a superstitious person by any means, but really? That’s how the week was going to end?

The kids went to visit Big Sister & Grandma, so Damon and I had us some QT. While I was perfectly fine to stay glued to my couch all weekend, Damon decided we needed to get out and get a few supplies. I hadn’t even seen daylight on Saturday, and fully expected to see some version of The Purge when I finally did go outside. So grateful that that was not the case, we did have to go to a couple of stores just to get milk & eggs. One girl had on a full on hazmat mask working at Walmart! SMH! Damon said, “You know her Grandpa probably sent her to work with that mask. Pulled it out of his garage.” HA!

I was so glad to get away from those folks and back in the coziness of my own house. “Oh couch, how I missed you in those 2 hours I was dragged from you.” #grownupmoviestowatchwithnoanimation

Sunday morning came, and church was still on. I did feel like worship was necessary in dealing with all that is going on. We went to praise HIM, and I felt better about tackling the week.

Since Spring Break has been extended, Grandma offered up a few more days to keep the kids, and since we do miss them, and wanted to lay eyes on everybody, we made the trip to Waco to check in.

We were all sitting on the porch, and while Damon & Donovan decided to cut Mama’s grass, we all got into the swing of working on the rest of the yard. Mama went in and boot them boots on….

And got at it!

We had a great time digging in the dirt, finding snails, re-potting plants, and just spending time together as a family. It was nice out, until it started to rain, then we decided to pack it in. After all was complete, I kissed all 4 of my babies & my sweet Mama, and we set on our way home. Praying that our children & family stay protected from harm and sickness. In Jesus’ name.

3 John 1:2 2 Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.

Be Blessed,

Kellie

Meal Kits….

Hey, Y’all! I just wanted to share something I found to be pretty cool. I have always been intrigued by the whole meal kit craze that I had been seeing advertised everywhere. There are a bunch out there, and unfortunately, no one is paying me to push their brand, (Maybe I need to look into that.) so I won’t necessarily recommend one over the other, but I say all of that to tell you that I took the plunge after a very generous promo code was given, (thank you Imagined Life podcast) and bought a 3 meal a week plan.

Y’all, for what I paid, promotion taken into account, I am getting 3 meals to feed my family of 5, for less than a grocery store trip. Just put it this way, if we all 5 went to a sit down restaurant, we would have spent well over that and eaten just once. Now, I am not saying that this is something that I have to have, but I did want to try it out, and I will say it did not disappoint. There is also no commitment, so you can cancel anytime…

Another really great take away from this was that Damon and I prepped the meal together, while the kids chatted us up. Don’t get me wrong, this is not our first time for us to collaborate in the kitchen by an means, but we felt all gourmet and thangs! Chopping and following a fancy recipe. What I really dug about it, is that they send you EVERYTHING you need. That is one of the main reasons that I don’t really like to recipe cook. You buy certain things for a specific recipe, and use it one time. Or you have to search for it, in the store (which turned me on to grocery ordering), and end up doing aisle laps. I am not about that life…AT ALL.

This is what we ended up with, and it was really good!

Pork and Veggie Bibimbap
with Mushrooms, Carrots & Jasmine Rice

If you have been toying around with the thought of purchasing a meal kit, I say go for it. There is no commitment, and if there are fewer people in your house to cook for, then it will be even cheaper. I am not saying that this is going to be a staple in my house, as I could just go grocery shopping, but the experience is just something a little different, and as a whole, another memory to share…us chopping, prepping, & cooking as a family. We even had Google play us some Smooth Jazz. I am excited about tonight’s meal…

What are some of your thoughts? I’d love to her from you.

Blessings,

Kellie

My Weekend….

Good Monday Morning!

Praise the Lord!

I’m just stopping by to share the glorious weekend that I had. Yes, I felt like I was running around all day on Saturday, but the end results were worth it.

My oldest daughter came to visit, and while here, decided to have her car serviced at the dealership. Well, we all know that a Saturday for car maintenance is on a lot of people’s agendas, so that meant a 3 hour wait! That led to the phone call, “Mama, you think you could come pick me up? 3 hours is a long time to wait. PLEASE?” Even as a grown up, they are still your baby. I took advantage of the outing, and stopped by the grocery store for a few things to prepare lunch, then we headed to the house.

I made us all some lunch, and remembered that my baby girl, 1st grade, mind you, had a project due on Monday. She had to make a 3D map of her bedroom! You did just read 1st grade, right? You know good and well that this means I would have to be way more involved than I’d like to be with this project. But Wait! BRAINSTORM! Big Sister is here….

The planning stages
The completion. SUCCESS!

Thank God for older siblings! This definitely deserves an A. Do you see the ceiling fan??? Too cute.

In preparation for some “Be About It Organizing” business, Kamren and I had discussed doing a little photo shoot. We went outside to take advantage of the beautiful weather that we had, and she took a few shots of yours truly…

A tiny sneak peak.

After our mini session, I headed back out to take Kamren to get her car, and came back to:

I bought an old dresser to use for storage in my home office/ guest room, and had this cutie to help me get it sanded. I worked on the painting portion, and will be sure to post the finished project once it is in place. I really enjoy taking something old and making it like new again. Putting my spin on it.

While the paint was drying, Drew had a hair appointment that I had to drop her at. While she was getting beautified, this bundle of adorable came to see me…

Auntie Kellie’s Cutie Pie

This little boy has my ❤. He is a little talker, too. We literally have whole conversations. He just coos and awes, and I swear he is telling me something and responding to my questions. I’m in love!

I picked Drew up, and we all ended the evening at good ole Popeye’s chicken, sharing a family meal. Days like this are the ones that I cherish. Time spent with the ones I love.

Psalm 133:1 “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!”

I will be back later this week with a few more tales from the White House. In the meantime, be BLESSED.

Kellie
