July is here, and my 41st Birthday is just 6 days away! It seems as if the older we get, we tend to view our birthdays as “just another day”, but, why not take the time to celebrate ourselves? That is definitely what I plan to do.
Yesterday’s boat outing sent me off proper like. Stay tuned throughout the week for some more good times…
This week started out a little rough for me. (Thank God for my “Solid as a Rock” husband for always being my sounding board and voice of reason.) I’d been hit with a few things in my personal life that have left me a bit hurt, doubtful, and questioning some of my abilities. I am not usually the one to share my DEEP thoughts, but I did reach out to my Aunt Gena this week about some things I was feeling. I really didn’t go into huge detail with her, but she is probably one of the only people I have that could relate on this specific concern. She reassured me that I wasn’t alone, and even went so far as to check up on me later in the week to provide affirmation as to why I am “CHOSEN.” I am getting a little choked up now, just thinking about it. Thanks, Gena! It means a lot.
Romans 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
I am going to continue to stay in prayer…
Psalm 17:6I call on you, my God, for you will answer me; turn your ear to me and hear my prayer.
I was doing a little Bible research, and the below scriptures just spoke to me.
Exodus 14:14 The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.
1 Thessalonians 4:11And to aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you.
I just have to say, my BELIEF has never waivered, and my FAITH has always been strong. We often get in our own way, or better yet, God’s way, when it comes to “handling” things. In the scripture, Psalm 46:10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God.” That’s it! He… Is… God! Let Him have it! I am guilty of holding on to it, and not handing it over to Him. But here I am now, Lord. Outstretched arms. Giving it to you.
Is there something that you are struggling with? Do you have someone that you can relate directly to? It’s also a good idea to surround yourself with good Christian folks. Especially for those instances when you forget to just be still. Be Blessed, Friends!
I have been getting my family ready for vacation and needless to say, that requires me to do “A Little Shopping.” Just a few pics of some very cute finds for me and my Littles….
I looove to peruse the clearance/sale section on Old Navy’s website. I always find good stuff. I snagged this entire outfit for less than $20!
Check this out! I had been noticing these cute Birkenstock sandals, and also noticed that they were $100!!! Uhmmmm…..NO!
How about Walmart for $14.88??? Yes, please! I splurged for a black AND a brown pair! Yeah…I’m fancy! I feel like I really won here. :0)
I have set out to put a little LAKE in my life this summer, and am a bit grossed out about having my bare feet on the slimy, rocky bottom, so I searched Amazon, and found these with some great reviews, and at just $12, I ain’t mad about a thang.
You know I have 2 little girls, and hair is a major responsibility. They have been doing quite a bit of swimming this summer, so in order to try and help with my struggle, I bought these to try. I’ll let you know how they fare. They also came with 2 sets each of earplugs and nose pinchers. Little added bonus….
These are super cute for my girls to wear with their bathing suits. You know EVERY little girl has some pink on at any given time. Can’t go wrong for $5.88 at Walmart.
Lastly, I’ve got to shout out my girl Tijuana at Bello Bath & Body. She masterfully handcrafts some amazing skincare products, and has hooked me up! Who wants to be ashy on vacay? Her Whipped Body Butter is What’s Up! She also has a line for men, and I am awaiting Damon’s review of her Sandalwood Beard Balm. He is about that beard! Check her out at the Grow DeSoto Market Place, or online at http://www.bellobath.com/.
That’s what I’ve got for today, Friends! What are some of the things you’ve been shopping for? got any upcoming plans? I would love to hear form you.
Friends….this was a VERY productive weekend in the “White House Organization Initiative”. I was able to tackle quite a few things that I have let get out of hand, not to mention, trying to pass on my organization prowess to my 2 youngest offspring.
Remember that my first feet was to set them up with clothes for the week??? Handled it!
I even got the labels ready for my week set up. Side Note: I had to “Clean” my closet a bit, since my shoe rack collapsed on me a few days ago. Once I was done with all of that, I was too pooped to figure out a weeks worth of clothes for myself. My work wardrobe is a little more involved than shorts and a cute t-shirt everyday! IJS.
I also found this “hack” while perusing good ol’ Pinterest….
I had been keeping all of my purses inside of 2 larger bags, but every time I wanted to switch one, I had to dig. Or if I needed to use one of the larger bags, I had to dump them all out. On Pinterest of course, it was a bit fancier of a closet with cutesy hooks, but Hey! I had the hangers, so I used them. Works for me.
I ended up being able to do some sprucing in my bathroom linen closet to make things a little more organized, along with some long overdue dusting, sweeping, & mopping. I also cleaned out my nightstand “junk drawer”. For the life of me, I do not understand why we keep some of the stuff that we do! I do know that for me, I sometimes don’t feel like looking at something right away, but know that I need to eventually. That is how my nightstand ends up so full, but Damon…….O…M….G! That is a story for another day. Lets just say, Junk Drawer Overload!
Sadly, I didn’t take any pictures. I was so ready to get at it, and fully meant to take before & afters of these 2 projects, but I was a GIRL ON FIYAH! Just know that I always have projects on the horizon, so there is plenty more opportunities for photos.
Do you have any projects that you need to GET AT? Would you like some helpful tips…or just some help? What are some of your struggles? I would love to hear what you are working on? Don’t just think about it, BE About it!
This weekend, I am making time to assist my children in getting organized. Who out there has a kid that runs you crazy with the things they choose to put on everyday? You always want to encourage and promote independence and all, but you also cannot allow for foolishness when they are going to be seen with you!!! “I buy you nice clothes. How about you stop wearing the raggedy, too small ones, huh???”
Every morning, I know I end up sending my two Littles back up the stairs, at least twice a piece, to change something on their body before heading out. I had tried to implement the, “Let me approve your choices before bedtime” rule, but for whatever reason, we can’t seem to keep that up. It is the worst for my 6 year old. She looks like she is about to run off to Clown College on the days we FAIL to check the night before. So, what I have decided to do, is set her up with outfits for the week. I am talking everything from top… to bottom. Maybe have her throw her socks in a pocket or something? i don’t know. I just need her to have everything together, so there are no questions to be asked.
I was thinking of something like this….
As I got to digging around for ideas, I said to myself, “Self! You could make things easier in your closet, too!” I think I may arrange this for me.
So, our morning routine has them getting up by their own alarm clock, brushing teeth, washing face, and getting dressed, all while I get myself ready for the day. (You are probably thinking, “They get up on their own?” Yes! Yes they do! I am raising folks to be independent, remember?) They will then come down the stairs to me, and I will finish up on hair, and whatever else needs to be checked, ie. crazy outfits!
Mama grabs her coffee, and if I am feeling extra SUPER, my lunch for the day. We load up in the car, get dropped at daycare, and I head to work. Done, Son!!!!
Prayerfully, after this weekend, we will have a fail proof system that will alleviate at least the one morning headache for me. Please say a prayer for your girl. I am trying to “Be About It” this weekend!
Hey there, Friends! At the prompting of one of my cousins, (shout out to Frenchie!) I have decided to review the spots that I told you all that I wanted to visit in my city. The plan is to hit at least one place on my list each weekend during the summer. I hadn’t really thought about doing any kind of reviews for anything really, but why not? I may be able to help out a few of my reader/follower friends find something to do. To recap the list from my “Mission: Explore My City…”, here they are…
Klyde Warren Park
TheFt. Worth Zoo
The Perot Museum
Ft. Worth Stockyards
Sea Life Aquarium in Grapevine
Ripley’s Believe it or Not
Hat Creek Burgers
First stop…Chicken Scratch!
What I first want to say about this location is that it is VERY kid friendly! There is so much for them to do and explore outdoors. They have hop scotch tiles, horseshoes, a playground, and they even have an area where they provide sidewalk chalk for your kid to break out their inner artist! Baby
It is attached to The Foundry, which serves the more “grown up” side of your crew, and there appeared to be band getting set up on the stage. I am sure there are a lot of good times had out on that patio!
My food was quite good, as you really can’t go wrong with Coconut Chicken & Waffles, but sadly, the rest of my crew was not impressed.
Damon had the chicken on the bone….not a “W” for him. (You know how he likes his fried chicken!)
Kamren & Donovan both had some sort of deep fried burger that they did not enjoy, while Kori, who is the most go with the flow kid that I know, was perfectly fine with her kid meal chicken strips & french fries. They give the kids a ticket when you order so they can come back and get a Paleta (Ice Cream/Popsicle) when they are ready for it. Overall, the atmosphere was good, but it wasn’t enough to have me come back. On to the next spot. See you with that review next week!
I have had some great times with great people this past week. My kids are home from their Grandma visit, and all order has been restored in the world. (If you can say that there was ever really any order) We are back in the full swing of things, so I wanted to share a few of my happy items for mid week.
I am going to start with this bit of wonderfulness! Creme Brulee Coffee. And yes, it is this EXACT brand. I never thought that a cup of coffee, made by the handsome-est man on earth, (I am a bit biased) would be a “Happy” note for me, but it definitely is. My Mother-In-Law introduced this into our lives about a year ago, and we were really just enjoying it on the weekends at our leisure, so it was more of a laid back consumption. You know, because you need the hardcore coffee during the week! Anyway, Damon slipped a cup in on me, and my eyes literally rolled back in my head! I don’t know what the difference was on this particular morning as I drove in to work, but it was heavenly! Thanks, Boo! You are the best! Make sure to keep us stocked….
This one should have probably been above coffee, but she knows my heart….. LOL! My Girl Kamren… my #1, like she refers to herself. She is what has been making me happy this week. She is definitely her Mama’s daughter! We had a few hiccups/bumps in the road this last week, and in true Kamren fashion, she handled them Like A Boss! It really made me proud. She is growing and maturing into a wonderful & very responsible young adult. She loves her family and the Lord, and is on a mission to get this thing call “life” handled. She and I were talking the other day, and she ended her story with, “Because my parents didn’t raise me like that! ” I told her, SAY THAT, Girl!” I am over the moon with what our future holds as TEAM mother & daughter. We all know about those rough teenage girl/mama years! Don’t act brand new on me, just pray for me. I still have two to go.
My final “Happy” note for today is….Father’s Day is this weekend! Whoop! Whoop! I get to share a home with an Ahh-Mazing man that my children are blessed to call “Daddy”! I could not have chosen a better “Partner in Crime.” Sunday will be all about him, and it will be well deserved. (We’ll work on more days like these) He is our rock, our center, and our fearless leader. I have had many struggles with this day in my past, but my husband has blessed me through them. The least that I/we can do is celebrate him. Celebrate him for the man he is, has grown to be, and will always be, leaving an always stamp on our lives. The two of us have LITERALLY grown up together…. whoa! On so many levels. I mention all of this to say that, I LOVE this man for exactly who he is, and for the babies he has given me. Happy Father’s Day, Damon! XOXOXO
